About us:
Mistover is a horse boarding and training facility situated on 160 acres in the hills of Pawling, New York, only about 1 hour from New York City. Designed by a team of horse people, the facility is laid out for efficiency and the comfort of horse and rider.
Our indoor ring measures an impressive 110 x 250 feet to insure every rider has room to work. For the comfort of both horse and rider, the ring is heated in the winter to forty degrees. The footing is a mixture of sand and fiber, which is groomed daily--this process includes adding moisture for dust suppression with a Rainmaker sprinkler system.
We have two beautiful outdoor rings with footing similar to our indoor. Our upper ring, measuring 90 x 210, usually hosts a standard dressage arena for those who wish to work by the letter. The main ring (160 x 230) is home to a complete jumping course with a number of interesting elements. Both are equipped with automatic sprinkler systems to insure firm, dust-free footing.
Our spacious tack room is heated and air conditioned with a large tack locker for each boarder. There are two rest rooms, one of which is handicapped accessible. There is also a changing room, equipped with a shower for boarders/students who need to clean up before leaving the barn.
History of Mistover
Mike & Carol Paterno began looking for property in the fall of 1999 to build a barn for their horses. Realizing that they really knew nothing about the daily care of horses, they asked their trainer and friend, Jayne Marino, to consult with them about how best to set up a barn where the needs of the horses would be number one. After many hours working together visiting existing barns and discussing how best to accomplish the mission, Mike and Carol decided to ask Jayne if she would consider partnering with them in the building and running of a commercial horse facility. Land was found in Pawling and in the spring of 2001, ground was broken for the construction of what was to become Mistover.
